There are more than 100 merit badges, and any Scout can earn any merit badge at any time, regardless of rank.  The requirements for each merit badge appear in the booklet for that badge, and in the book Boy Scout Requirements, all of which are available at the Lima Scout Shop.

Merit badges are defined as either Elective, or those required for the rank of Eagle.  Please see the Boy Scout Handbook for details.

Before beginning work on a merit badge, Scouts should contact Scoutmaster Stewart.  BSA policy requires signed merit badge applications, the use of the buddy system, and work with qualified merit badge counselors.

It should be noted that Summer Camp is the best opportunity for Scouts to earn merit badges.  For information on merit badges offered at Summer Camp, visit campberry.badgetracker.com
