Chicken BarbequeWe are considering having a first-time chicken barbeque to raise funds for the boys. If anyone has any helpful hints in regard to this, please contact Fundraising Chairmen.
Election Night Community ServiceEach year the Allen County Board of Elections requests our service during the primary and general elections on the first Tuesdays in May and November. Scouts carry supplies after the precincts close, taking approximately two hours each date.
Hotdog Sales - Alco Sidewalk DaysEach year Alco requests the Boy Scouts' assistance during their summer sidewalk days. Scouts sell hotdogs and pop to Alco customers, with Alco Management reimbursing the scouts for the majority of their expenses. This allows the scouts to keep most (if not all) of the money generated.
Canal DaysThis community celebration is held in September every year. Boy Scouts sell pop before and during the parade using wagons with coolers. See More Details for specifics on the current campaign.
Popcorn SalesTrails End popcorn is sold by Boy Scouts all over the United States as an annual fundraiser. Troop 65 gets to keep 30% of all sales it makes. In addition to individual sales, the scouts man "show and sell" booths in early November. This is usually done in front of Chief's Supermarket in Delphos and K-Mart in Lima. The product is ordered in advance and available to purchase at that time. Sales made are divided among the volunteer Scouts manning the booth. To add further incentive to sell, 25% of the profit a Scout makes for the troop is earmarked for his use toward any out-of-pocket expenses for scouting (e.g., camp fees). Each Scout receives at the close of the popcorn sale, a voucher showing how much money is in his fund. Congratulations to the top three sellers from 2002: Adam Wa., Josh O., Justin R.
REMINDER: Don't forget to use your popcorn vouchers.
For details on the current or previous campaigns - see More Details.
Luminary SalesTroop 65 helps raise community spirit by sponsoring the annual Christmas Luminary sales. The Delphos Area Chamber of Commerce donates it's Main Street office for this fundraiser, which takes place the two weekends in December before Christmas, and on Christmas Eve. Scouts sell luminary kits consisting of a votive candle, cut-out plastic milk jug and gravel to weigh down the jug. Individual candles, and delivery of kits is also available. Thanks to Crouse Lumber for donating the bags and gravel, and to Aero Printing for donating the posters.
Chief's Cash Register ReceiptsTroop 65 participates in the Chief's Community Cash Program which runs annually from October to May. We receive 1% back on cash register receipt totals (excluding beer, wine, cigarettes, and tax). Scouts may turn in their receipts labeled "Community Cash" at Troop meetings, and should ask their neighbors, family and friends to save them also.
