Canal Days profits go to Boy Scouts

The Delphos Herald

At a recent Delphos Boy Scout Troop 65 meeting, four members of the Chamber of Commerce Canal Days Committee donated $1,000 to the Boy Scout Troop.  Shown in the picture presenting the check to Assistant Scoutmaster Les Warniment are Eric Fritz, Tony Wehri, Bruce VanMeter and Jim Grothouse.  They are surrounded by the scouts from Delphos Troop 65.

The Committee said this is one of the many ways they are giving funds raised at Canal Days back to the community.  The donation was given to the scouts for their volunteer hours picking up trash during Canal Days.  Boy Scout Troop 65 has been keeping litter picked up during the festival for the past few years and will be out in full force again this September.

"We are very grateful to the Canal Committee for this donation.  This year we added 14 new boys for a current roster of 37 scouts and we definitely need funds for more camping equipment," Warniment said.

The scouts are busy putting together their work assignments for this year's Canal Days service project.  They are asking the community to help out by throwing trash in the cans provided, but should they miss, the scouts will be there to pick up.  The scouts do this project as community service and expect nothing in return for the time spent.  It's their way of giving and part of what scouting teaches the boys.  Come support Canal Days this year and help support the whole community.
